New Delhi: After buying lottery tickets for over 35 years, an 88-year-old man’s luck turned and he received Rs 5 crore in the Punjab lottery. Mahant Dwaraka Dass of Derabassi from Punjab had been buying lotteries for 35-40 years and eventually he received the ticket which had the profitable prize. Mahant has received the highest prize in the Lohri Makar Sankranti Bumper Lottery 2023.
After profitable the Rs 5 crore in the lottery, Mahant instructed ANI that he was very completely happy and would break up the prize cash between his two sons and his ‘Dera’. “I feel happy. I have been buying lotteries for 35 to 40 years. I will distribute the winning amount between my two sons and to my Dera,” lottery winner Mahant Dwaraka Dass instructed ANI.

Speaking to ANI Mahant’s son, Narender Kumar Sharma, he stated his father gave his grandson cash to purchase the lottery ticket and he received. We are completely happy, he added.

However, Mahant is not going to obtain the total quantity – Rs 5 crore – of the lottery because the lottery prize can be topic to the tax deduction. According to the assistant lottery supervisor, Mahant will obtain the lottery quantity after the 30% tax deduction of Rs 5 crore.
“The outcomes of the 2023 Punjab Lohri Makar Sankranti State Bumper Lottery was introduced on January 16. He (Dwarka Dass) received the highest prize of Rs 5 Cr. After finishing the prescribed process, the quantity can be returned to him after deduction of 30% tax. Karam Singh, deputy lottery supervisor, instructed ANI.
