After Delhi, CBI probe sought into ‘Rs 500 cr rip-off’ in Punjab’s excise policy

New Delhi. After Delhi, an investigation was sought into the “Rs 500 crore scam” in the excise policy of the Punjab authorities led by Bhagwant Mann. Chairman of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Sukhbir Singh Badal, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Punjab requesting an investigation by the CBI and ED into the Aam authorities’s “tailor-made” excise policy Aadmi (AAP).

“As in Delhi, a similar scam took place in Punjab. It is a Rs 500 crore scam,” the SAD chief alleged after submitting the memorandum to Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

“We have requested the governor to order investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Law Enforcement Directorate into the excise policy scam in Punjab,” Badal mentioned.

He claimed that the AAP authorities of Punjab had adopted the “Delhi model” whereas shaping the state’s excise policy.

“Submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Pb and urged him to order CBI and ED investigations into the Rs 500 crore scam committed by the AAP government in Punjab through its ‘tailor-made’ excise policy framed in accordance with Delhi policy, which has already been found illegal and the case has been registered by the CBI,” Badal mentioned in a tweet.

Badal additionally mentioned that some senior Punjab officers had held a gathering with Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to put out the policy.

Earlier in July, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena beneficial: CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Following this, the AAP-led Delhi authorities withdrew the brand new liquor policy.
