GUWAHATI: Five individuals have been arrested in Nagaon and Morigaon districts of Assam for allegedly offering SIM playing cards to Pakistani officers, a police spokesman stated on Wednesday. Several cell phones, SIM playing cards and different incriminated tools, together with a handset used to share protection data with a international embassy, have been seized, he stated.
Assam police spokesman Prasanta Bhuyan stated the arrests have been made in an operation carried out on Tuesday night, based mostly on data from a central company and different sources.
“There have been reports that about ten people from the two districts have been involved in fraudulent purchase of SIM cards from different service providers and provided them to some Pakistani agents, thus working against the integrity and sovereignty of the nation,” he stated.
Five of the defendants have been arrested on Tuesday night, he added.
Those arrested have been recognized as Ashiqul Islam, Bodor Uddin, Mijanur Rahman and Wahiduz Zaman, all from Nagaon, and Baharul Islam from Morigaon.
