“Some even mock us by saying that liquor prices in Goa are double than in Delhi,” mentioned Naik.

Sameer Naik, a retailer, informed IANS that since liquor costs have come down in Delhi and Maharashtra, gross sales have fallen in Goa.

“Why will they buy from us? Every passing day, the rates are increasing here. In the near future, we will have to depend only on local customers,” mentioned Sameer Naik.

Sources mentioned that many individuals used to smuggle liquor from Goa to the North, which has stopped now.

An excise official, on situation of anonymity, mentioned although the federal government has collected substantial income from liquor commerce, the worth distinction will have an effect on tourism and it will develop into evident from the approaching tourism season.

“There are many domestic tourists who visit Goa mainly for cheap liquor. Why would they come now if the prices here are higher,” he requested.
