Congressman Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, whose “Rashtrapatni” feedback sparked a row in Lok Sabha on Thursday, mentioned he will meet President Droupani Murmu in individual and apologize if she feels dangerous.

Adhir additionally requested why social gathering chief Sonia Gandhi was drawn into the controversy. “I can’t even think of insulting the President. It was just a mistake. If the President feels bad, I will meet them in person and apologize. They can hang me if they want. I’m ready to be punished, but why? she (Sonia Gandhi) is being dragged into this,” mentioned the congress chief.

‘RASHTRAPATNI’ NOTE

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had beforehand referred to President Droupadi Murmu as “Rashtrapatni”. His remark drew criticism from BJP MPs protesting in parliament on Thursday. Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Nirmala Sitharaman have been amongst BJP leaders who known as for Congress President Sonia Gandhi to apologize for Chowdhury’s remark.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury mentioned the entire incident had been overblown by the BJP and his remark was the results of a slip of the tongue.

Sonia had responded to BJP leaders saying Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had already apologized for his remark. According to sources, Sonia Smriti instructed Irani “not to speak to her” after the Lok Sabha was adjourned on Thursday.
