Bhopal: Five kanwariyas had been critically injured after a truck rammed into a group of pilgrims in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district, following which offended folks set the car on fireplace, police stated on Wednesday. The incident happened round 11 pm on Tuesday close to Rithorakala village when a group of kanwariya pilgrims had been getting back from Haridwar (on foot), Ray Singh stated.

Soon after the incident, local folks gathered on the spot, beat up the truck driver and set the car on fireplace, he stated. People additionally blocked the Morena-Bhind highway for 2 hours after the incident.

Two of the critically injured Kanwarias have been referred to Gwalior for additional remedy, the ASP stated. A case was registered in opposition to the truck driver and his car was impounded.

Kanwariyas are devotees of Lord Shiva who journey to pilgrimages akin to Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to fetch the holy water from the Ganga River to pour on numerous Shivalingas in the course of the annual Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage.
