New Delhi: In an enormous setback to Punjab’s Congress, its high chief and former state finance minister, Manpreet Singh Badal, joined the BJP on Wednesday. Badal joined the social gathering on the BJP headquarters in the presence of varied leaders together with Union Minister Piyush Goyal. Earlier in his resignation letter to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Badal stated he was “disillusioned” with the social gathering.

“I’ve devoted each ounce of power to each place I’ve had the respect to carry, each in the social gathering and in the federal government. Thank you for offering me with these alternatives and for the kindness and the courtesy you could have proven me in the previous,” he stated in the letter he posted on his Twitter account.

“Unfortunately, given the prevailing culture within the party and the desire for challenge in the current course, I no longer wish to be part of the Indian National Congress,” he stated.

Badal, who served as finance minister in the earlier Congress authorities, stated: “Seven years ago I merged the Punjab People’s Party with your party. I did it with great hope and the waiting to be incorporated into an organization with a rich history that would enable me to serve both the people of Punjab and their interests to the best of my ability.”

“The initial enthusiasm gradually gave way to disappointing disillusionment,” he added.
