At least 15 college students from the minority Hindu group celebrating Holi on the University of Karachi had been injured after they had been attacked by members of a radical Islamic pupil group, the second such incident in Pakistan in two days.
A University of Karachi official has confirmed that there was an incident within the Sindhi division the place Hindus and different college students had been celebrating Holi and throwing colours at one another when some college students attacked and injured them.
“We are reviewing the incident which is completely against our policies,” he stated. An nameless Hindu pupil, sporting a masks with different college students, later posted a video on Twitter detailing your complete incident.
“Islaami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) militants came and attacked students celebrating Holi in the hall. They beat some of us,” she stated.
“They also harassed female students and we had to leave. We had gathered to celebrate the Holi festival. I want the government and the university to take action against those responsible,” she stated.
The assault on Hindu college students in Karachi was the second such incident in Pakistan since Monday.
At the University of Punjab campus, 15 college students had been injured when IJT activists allegedly prevented them from celebrating Holi on the premises right here.
Holi, a pageant of colours, is well known to mark the arrival of spring.
The incident occurred on the Punjab University Law School on Monday, when round 30 Hindu college students gathered to have fun Holi.
Contacted by PTI, IJT (Punjab University) spokesman Ibrahim Shahid denied his college students’ involvement within the incident.
