Patna: Amid controversy over Bihar Education Minister Chandrashekhar’s remarks on Ramcharitmanas, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RLD) leader Shivanand Tiwari mentioned on Friday that there was numerous kooda karkat (waste) in Ramanaya, in addition to diamonds and pearls. He mentioned: “I agree in this fashion that it (the Ramayana) has diamonds and pearls in addition to garbage… If you say like this that the Ramayana solely spreads hatred, then I personally disagree with this opinion,” RJD National Vice President Shivanand Tiwari mentioned.
Chandrashekhar had not too long ago mentioned that “Ramcharitmanas spreads hatred in society”. The head of RJD made the remarks whereas addressing the fifteenth convocation ceremony of Nalanda Open University. Bihar Governor Phagu Chouhan was additionally current on the occasion.
Defending his assertion on Ramcharitmas, Chandrasekhar mentioned on Friday, “You show me a video in which I objected to Ramcharitmanas. I only objected to certain verses of Ramcharitmanas.”

BJP spokesman Shehzad Poonawalla attacked the RJD leader for his remarks. Taking to Twitter, he mentioned, “After Jagdanand Singh and Chandrashekhar, now Shivanand Tiwari – says there’s Kooda Karkat (garbage) in the Ramayana with Heera Why this fixed Chot on Hindu Astha to vote?
