The father of these arrested in reference to the killing of BJP chief Yuva Morcha in Karnataka stated they had been focused because they had been Muslims. On Thursday, police also arrested 21 suspects in the case and said they were all members of the PFI and SDPI.
After the killing, tensions ran high in several locations in Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday, with cases of stone-throwing and lathi attacks by police reported. Section 144 was imposed in the Puttur area and security measures were tightened as protests broke out. After this incident, security forces were deployed to Bellare Village, Dakshina Kannada District.
BJP and Sangh Parivar supporters had directed their fear at the state government, accusing it of failing to protect the lives of Hindu workers.
CM BOMMAI TO MEET VICTIM’S FAMILY
Meanwhile Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is likely to visit Bellare today to meet Praveen Nettaru’s family. The Prime Minister has canceled several events organized to mark today’s one-year government anniversary.
CM Basavaraj Bommai called a press conference at his residence on Wednesday evening and announced that he had canceled “Janotsava”, a mega-rally in Doddaballapur that BJP National President JP Nadda was to attend.
